The 16-year-old cult leader after he was arrested    The Police and the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC) have arrested a teenager, Afolabi Omotoyosi, and 16 others for alleged cultism related offences in Mushin.   The Nation reported that the Junior Secondary School (JSS III) pupil, was alleged to be the leader of a cult group.  He was said to have been armed with cutlasses and knives during his arrest on Saturday and was believed to be preparing to attack residents.   Omotoyosi’s confession, security agents said, led to the clampdown of the others yesterday. According to LNSC’s spokesman, Olawale Afolabi, the teenager confessed to being the gang leader, adding that he committed thuggery, bullying of other school children and residents.   Afolabi said the other suspects including a lady, were being interrogated by the police.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities has said it will not disclose when it will hold its meetings to consider the Federal Government’s offers, aimed at resolving the ongoing strike. The ASUU President, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, said this on Sunday while responding to our correspondent’s inquiry as to when the union would meet to examine the Federal Government’s offers and resolve the strike. The union and the Federal Government’s delegation held a 14-hour meeting on Thursday, after which they issued a communiqué, in which ASUU was asked to revert to the government within one week. The ASUU President had on Friday said in an interview that he could not determine when the union would call off its strike until its members met to decide the next course of action. This is also as the National Association of Nigerian Students on Saturday promised to meet the ASUU executives and consider the government’s offers with a view to ending the strike. The shocking number of cows that Nigerians eat everyday has been revealed by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh.  Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh  Ahead of the National Conference on Transformation of the Livestock, holding in Abuja, from Tuesday, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh, has raised the alarm that Nigeria might, in the near future, suffer scarcity of livestock because of the quantum of cows consumed daily without commensurate calving. According to the minister,  “The way we are consuming cows, slaughtering them is quite alarming. Lagos alone consumes 6,000 cows a day, that’s the figure at abattoirs, not figure from birthday parties and burial ceremonies and so on. Imagine what Port Harcourt consumes; or Umuahia, Abuja, Kano, Kaduna and Maiduguri. If you add it up, we may be eating up to 80,000 to 90,000 cows a day and we are not calving as many. “Which means a day will come,
