Popular Gospel Singer Dies at 38 After Loosing Battle to Liver Complications

Award-winning South African gospel singer, Lundi Tyamara, has passed on in the early hours of Friday at the age of 38.

After a long battle with Abdominal Tuberculosis and liver complications, South African award-winning gospel star, Lundi Tyamara has died. 
 
The Ndixolele hitmaker who was moved to ICU on Monday after his condition took a turn for the worse, reportedly died at the Edenvale hospital in the early hours of this morning.

"We got the call just after one am this morning. We are all shocked. We never expected this to happen. The family is taking it very hard," said his manager and cousin Anele Hlazo.
 
According to Times Live SA, insiders confirmed that the singer was placed on oxygen machines as his liver "had practically stopped working".
 
Despite the dire situation, his family remained hopeful that "God's intervention" would help get him through the ordeal and called on the nation to pray for him.

"We are all shocked. He is a fighter. He fought this thing so hard. We thought he would win," said the insider.
 
Tyamara’s musical ambition received a boost at the tender age of 21. He grew to become a national Gospel superstar and a primary figure in the world of both Music and Media.
 
Tyamara was known for hits like, “Mphefumlo Wami”,amassing national album sales of over 3.7 million copies alone.
 
He was honoured with the SAMA Awards, KORA Awards and the Crown Gospel Music Awards among others, during his life time as a singer
