President Tinubu inaugurates Lagos Red Line rail.

Meanwhile the same day, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Thursday, officially inaugurated the Lagos Rail Mass Transit Red Line.

The new rail mass transit was built and unveiled by the Governor of Lagos State Sanwo Olu who has been keen on connecting with his civilians and satisfying their transportation cravings.

This was pledged lately in December 2023 after he launched the Lagos Rail Mass Transit Red Line Ikeja and quickly vowed that the rail would be unveiled by Tinubu before 2024 breaches its end.

His words:

“The completion and formal commissioning of this safety infrastructure is a precursor to the commencement of passenger operations of the Red Line which will be commissioned by our dear President, His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, in the first quarter of next year.”

“In the last four and a half years of our administration, we have prioritised the implementation of our integrated transportation system under the traffic management and transportation pillar of the T.H.E.M.E.S.+ agenda. As a result, we have delivered life-enhancing transport infrastructures that are making life easier for the average Lagosian.”

“The LRMT Red Line rail system, the first phase of which we project will move more than 500,000 passengers daily, stretches over a distance of 27 kilometres from Agbado to Oyingbo, with eight stations at Agbado, Iju, Agege, Ikeja, Oshodi, Mushin, Yaba, and terminates at Oyingbo”

The president of Nigeria also littered his view on the completed project and the Nigerian civilians were up for it.

In his words, he said:

“Today, we are gathered for the inauguration of the second of the six rail lines planned in our strategic transportation master plan. I commend the Lagos State Government under the leadership of Babajide Sanwo-Olu for this giant stride. He was part of this vision some 20 years ago, running around the world to look at working systems and come up with ideas to replicate here.”

“I am delighted that we are inaugurating the first phase of the Red Line. Today is a day to be remembered for the infrastructural progress of our country, particularly Lagos. LAMATA has demonstrated that agency can work for people if it is guided by a vision and commitment to noble values. Much work still needs to be done in fostering strong working partnership between between Federal Government and State Governments.”

“We thank Lagosians and our political leaders in the State for believing in us. We said we can do it, you believed in us. We said we would be focused on the people, you believed in us. We said our efforts would end up in making people’s lives better, you believed in us. The progress of Lagos over the last 24 years is a constant reminder that true change is possible.”

Some Nigerians, especially civilians residing in Lagos are currently all humped and engulfed with bliss as they will be satisfied with another means of transportation goal.
